It was developed at a cost of Rs 10.5 crore by Delhi Tourism Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC), in the Said-Ul-Azaib village, close to the Mehrauli heritage area.The Khas Bagh is the main garden among the cluster. This garden is designed on the pattern of Mughal gardens. It has been laid in 4X4 pattern with modern canals, shrubs and water bodies to bisect the medians. The fountains are fitted with modern colorful lightings that truly add color to the spectacles. Keep walking on the spiral walkway and it will lead you to the food and shopping court. This place has facility to eat and shop. Here, visitors can taste the delicacies from different states. The Courts of Specimen display rare species like the Kalpaka Vritch, Kadambaha, bamboo, cacti, teak, Rudraksh, Camphor, Arjun and other herbs. Developed by the Delhi Tourism Transportation Development Corporation, it was inaugurated in the year 2003. As its name suggests, Garden of Five Senses in Delhi was set up in a way to stimulate our five senses with its beauty and attractions. Various features of the garden of five seasons help us in exercising all the five senses of touch, sight, smell, etc. The garden serves as the venue of a number of festivals like Garden tourism festival, food festivals, Dandiya festivals etc along with various cultural programs. The garden is divided into zones like the Khas Bagh that developed on the lines of the Mughal Gardens. Time stands still in the garden, where the water falls into canals and paths strewn with flowering trees and in the center lies a fountain, which has lighting facilities.Set up on the design of the Mughal Gardens, Khas Bagh (garden) is fitted with a sequence of modern water channels and fountains. Some of these are even fitted with a lighting system. There is amphitheatre is ensconced, in a natural slope where the sandstones act as places for eating. The spiral pathway in the garden leads to the food and shopping court. Here, you can taste various exotic delicacies and at the same time, shop for knick-knacks. There is also an open exhibition area where exhibitions and workshops are held regularly.This garden consists of a large number of colorful plants with a pool of water lilies in the center. The garden festivals theme this year is Decorative Accents in Landscaping. A competition will be held in 24 classes consisting over 175 sections. There will also be competitions in Dahlia varieties, display sections, the tray garden class and nursery stalls. Such similar competitions and shows would be held every year.Color Gardens is the place in this garden where you will find flowers of all colors. Go to The Courts of Specimen Plants to watch out not so often seen species like bamboo and cacti. Amphitheatre is the place that is built of sandstone and serves as a seating place. Trail of Fragrance will take you to the rocky ridge that also houses a sculpture. Neel Bagh is a pool full of water lilies in all colors.A visit to the Garden of Five Senses is sure to leave you feeling quite refreshed. The sight of the plants and flowers, the sound of the melodious wind chimes, the aroma and taste of different cuisine and the feel of the sun-warmed rocks and stone benches in the amphitheatre, where you can sit and rest after a tour of the park, will leave your senses feeling pleasantly fulfilled. Secluded, away from the heart of the garden, on the other side of the walkway is the food and shopping court. A series of terraces provided with seating face the food court. Further attractions are the Color Gardens and the Courts of Specimen Plants. The Color garden is a magnificent collection and combination of ordinary flowering shrubs and ground covers. Where as Courts of Specimen Plants has a display of rare species of plants and herbs. In the end don’t miss the twenty-five different sculptures and murals by the popular craftsmen. There is also amphitheatre with blocks of sandstone to serve as seating. At the rear of the garden is an open exhibition area for displaying art and for holding art workshops.
